In this 2022 annual report, we proudly present the ongoing achievements of the Rakai Health Sciences Program (RHSP), a testament to over three decades of dedicated work in advancing global public health through HIV research and treatment. Since its inception, RHSP has led pioneering research and innovations in HIV/AIDS, with a continued focus on improving health outcomes in one of Uganda's most vulnerable regions.
The report details the high-impact research projects initiated and completed in 2022, highlighting their significant contributions to understanding and combating HIV. It also reflects on the program’s success in community-based research and service delivery across the 12 districts of the greater Masaka region. Notably, the number of individuals receiving HIV prevention and care from RHSP has reached approximately 137,228, demonstrating our commitment to providing accessible services.
The collaboration with local communities and policymakers has been instrumental in empowering those most affected by HIV to take charge of their health. The report acknowledges progress in tuberculosis care and retention, with an emphasis on continuing efforts toward sustained epidemic control.
As we look to 2023, RHSP remains dedicated to evidence-based interventions and enhancing population health. Our groundbreaking work continues to set a high standard in global health, and we are excited about the future impact of our efforts.
